This is a 12.5x17.5cm / 5x7inch portrait of a woman, half-remembered.

This painting developed out of a strange occurrence. I was photographing another small work, and in the process manged to shoot a frame by accident, while I was moving the painting. I really liked the blurred image that resulted and decided that I wanted to paint something in a similar manner.

The feeling conveyed was something older. half-remembered. Nostalgic, a moment from a possible past or an impossible future. A famous neurologist once said: "every act of memory is to some degree an act of imagination."

My question is this: "If I imagine this memory, does she exist somewhere?" I hope so, for both of our sakes.

This painting is available for purchase on my Daily Paintworks website.
