This is a 12.5x17.5cm / 5x7inch portrait of my late night muse.
I paint every day, mostly the daylight hours, as I rely on the natural light to help me make complex colour choices. I do, however, allow my imagination free reign late at night. When everything is quiet and night has fallen like a velvet blanket, I'll take out my paints and a board and slip into a really meditative state.
This little painting is a result of that quiet space last night. There was a gentle rain falling outside my open window, and I was indulging in some whisky and dark chocolate, while listening to moody love songs. It's a wonderful combination to meet the muse.
I only hope I did her justice.
